For more than a century now – 106 years to be precise – The American Legion has stood as a pillar of strength, service, and unwavering dedication to our nation’s veterans. We serve not just those who wore the military uniform, but their families as well. We serve young people. We serve communities. And we continue to serve our great country.
Today, we not only celebrate the remarkable history of our American Legion but also reaffirm our commitment to the mission that has guided us since 1919.
Since its founding in the wake of World War I, The American Legion has been a steadfast advocate for those who have borne the weight of defending our freedoms.
We must continue to adapt, lead and serve with the same passion that our founders demonstrated 106 years ago. We must ensure that every veteran, from every era of service, knows that they are not alone—that The American Legion will always be their home and that they have a family, an American Legion Family.
This milestone is a testament to the strength of our Legion family—our members, our Auxiliary, our Sons of The American Legion, and our American Legion Riders. Each of you, through your selfless service, upholds the values of duty, honor, and country. It is because of you that The American Legion remains a beacon of hope and support for those who have served.
As we celebrate today, let us remember our past, honor our present, and boldly face our future. We must follow a path for growth by welcoming new generations of veterans into our ranks and advocating for those who have given so much in defense of our nation. Together, we will ensure that The American Legion remains as strong in the next century as it has been for the past 106 years.
Thank you, and may God bless The American Legion, our veterans and the United States of America.

A beautiful flag repository created and built by Colin S. from Reno Troop 4 for his Eagle Scout project has been placed in front of our building on March 1. The flag repository is intended for the respectful retirement of well used, worn, American flags. Please place them in the upper door and they will be collected and retired.
Thank you to perspective Eagle Scout Colin S. from Reno Troop 4.

Nevada Area Council Scouting America Annual Banquet and Council Awards Night held on February 22, 2025 at the Reno Elks Lodge recognized Ron Miranda with the Scout Salute.
Ron has provided critical support of Scouting range activities by running the shooting sports merit badge clinic in 2024. In the process, he went over and did some preventative maintenance on their inventory of firearms and chaired and marketed the Merit Badge clinic which resulted in Channel 2 News covering the event.
Ron is an active member with the Sons of American Legion associated with American Legion Post 30 in Sparks that helped organize the Merit Badge Clinic. Ron and Jim Pierce did a great job of recruiting and providing leadership to both Scouters and Legion Members, uniting them in providing a solid program.
